Protect yourself and your loved ones from cyberattacks

Risks to your digital safety are everywhere. Cybercriminals can target anyone’s home or personal devices at any time. There are steps you can take to protect yourself and your loved ones online.

What can you do?

The simple but effective mitigation techniques below will help you significantly reduce cyber-attack opportunities on your home network and make it more difficult for cybercriminals to be successful.

Security Tips to Reduce Cyber Attacks on Your Home Network
  1. Secure your Wi-Fi Network: Make sure you change the network’s NAME first; do not leave it as ‘Admin’ or use your last name. Also, change the network PASSWORD to a word or phrase that your family will remember, but outsiders won’t easily guess.
  2. Secure your Android/Apple devices:
    • Establish a phone number/email that can be used to validate your information (including iCloud for Apple devices or Google Drive for Android devices), known as a trusted device.
    • Set up a passcode for each device and enable the “Find My” feature to locate or lock a lost device.
    • Create backups – Leverage Google, iCloud, or iTunes, and your Network Service Provider.
