Security & Fraud Prevention
Committed to protecting your sensitive information
Our goal at SMBC MANUBANK is to keep the financial transactions of our customers and the information we receive through the Internet secure. With our security measures and your help, we want you to have confidence in banking with SMBC MANUBANK over the Internet.
To use our Corporate Banking service, Business Online Banking, or Personal Online Banking you must enter an identifier and a password that was assigned to you (Personal Online Banking) or your company at set-up (Corporate Banking or Business Online Banking), and you must also enter the user identifier and password that were assigned to you (each user has a different user identifier and password). These are all confidential and should not be shared with others. However, your user password is particularly important. The first time you log onto Corporate Banking, Business Online Banking, or Personal Online Banking you will be asked to choose your user password. From that time forward, only you will know your user password, and you must never disclose it to anyone else. We will not ask you for your user password, and we do not know what it is. If you think your user password has been compromised, change it immediately. In fact, it is a good security practice to change your user password from time to time, even if it has not been compromised.
When you log onto Corporate Banking, Business Online Banking or Personal Online Banking your browser uses a digital certificate provided by Geo Trust, a subsidiary of DigiCert, to confirm that you are communicating with SMBC MANUBANK. From that time until you exit the Corporate Banking service, Business Online Banking or Personal Online Banking your communications with us are encrypted (encoded). We use the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256 encryption algorithm through TLS 1.2 or TLS1.3 across all solutions. If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer or Edge, Google Chrome, or Firefox as your Web browser, you can tell if communications between your computer and ours are secure by looking for a locked padlock symbol at the top of your screen.
It is very important for you to log off the Corporate Banking service, Business Online Banking, or Personal Online Banking properly before moving to other Internet sites. Once you are finished, you should close (exit) your Web browser or clear your cache before leaving your computer or letting someone else use it Note: To learn how to clear the cache without closing your browser, search your browser's Help function. Never leave your computer unattended while you are logged onto Corporate Banking, Business Online Banking, or Personal Online Banking, as someone could view account information or perform transactions in your name. For your protection, you will automatically be logged off of Corporate Banking, Business Online Banking, or Personal Online Banking after a short time if you do not perform any transaction or communicate with us.
Although the information and messages you send to are encrypted when you are logged onto Corporate Banking, Business Online Banking, or Personal Online Banking, you should be aware that other e-mail messages sent through the Internet are not. This includes inquiries sent to us through our Web site outside the Corporate Banking service, Business Online Banking, or Personal Online Banking. Unencrypted Internet e-mail messages pass through many different computers and are not secure, so we recommend that you not use an Internet e-mail to send us confidential information, such as account numbers or financial information.
Once we receive information and messages from you, they are processed and stored on SMBC MANUBANK's computers, where various security measures protect them from unauthorized access by outside parties. These include firewalls and router filters to ensure that only authorized messages will be accepted by our systems. We also employ measures to monitor our network for intrusion attempts, and our security systems are periodically audited and tested.
We review SMBC MANUBANK's policies and practices periodically, and we may make changes we believe are appropriate in light of evolving technology and business conditions. This Statement may be revised from time to time to reflect these changes.
