David H. Orr is Managing Director, Chief Credit Officer for SMBC MANUBANK, where he has spent nearly his entire professional career. In this role he leads the Credit Administration Department which is charged with reviewing and approving all loan requests made to the bank. Other key functions include calculation and determination of SMBC MANUBANK’s quarterly loan loss reserve; maintaining and updating its loan policies; and membership in the Management Committee. In addition, the following departments also report to David: Asset Based Lending, Commercial Credit, and Commercial Loan Documentation.
David originally joined SMBC MANUBANK in 1982 and over the next 18 years was promoted to positions of increasing responsibility in first line relationship management, including Assistant Vice President and Vice President. In 2001 he became Senior Vice President & Regional Manager, overseeing the bank’s relationship management and business development efforts concurrently in both the San Fernando Valley and the San Gabriel Valley regions. In 2018, David transferred into Credit Administration as a Senior Vice President and Credit Administrator. In 2021, he became Deputy Chief Credit Officer and later that year was promoted to his current position.
David earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from University of California, Los Angeles. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with family, cooking, playing golf and watching soccer.
