In March 2026, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation entered into an agreement to sell SMBC MANUBANK's commercial banking unit to Bank of Hope. The sale is currently expected to close in early October, subject to certain approvals and conditions, at which point SMBC MANUBANK will be owned by Bank of Hope.

Business continues as usual. Your account and routing numbers, account terms, fees and rates, debit card and PIN, login credentials, alerts, security tokens, Relationship Manager, branch, loan terms and existing agreements are unchanged. No action is required.
Through the transition
Teams from both companies are working toward a smooth transition. You may begin to see Bank of Hope referenced in certain documents, including statements, and you may still see SMBC MANUBANK referenced in some materials, systems and communications.
Later, with advance notice
Over time, you may see changes as systems and services are integrated. Some changes may occur at different times depending on the nature of your banking relationship. We will notify you well in advance of any change that might potentially affect you.

Currently, there are no immediate impacts or changes to your banking relationship with SMBC MANUBANK. Your existing accounts, products and services, digital banking and branch access, Relationship Manager and support contacts all remain unchanged.

Following completion of the transaction, you may receive tax forms from both SMBC MANUBANK and Bank of Hope, depending on when your account transitioned during the tax.

If your account transitions from SMBC MANUBANK Manufacturers Bank to Bank of Hope during the tax year, you may receive separate tax forms from each institution. This is expected, as each institution is responsible for reporting applicable tax information for the portion of the tax year during which it maintained your account. Please retain all tax forms you receive for your tax records.
